I started with the name. Coming up with it took many months of paying attention to what was happening when I asked people a question and gave them images to spark their answers. I spent a lot of time playing with the Visual Thesaurus. It’s a great brainstorming tool for helping to find the right words.
When we were ready to start the company, the first thing we did was look for a graphic designer. I had been playing with ideas and sketches and getting nowhere. One of the early lessons was just because I “could” doesn’t mean I “should”. This is especially true with design. Yes I can design, but no I did not have the time to focus on it at the level that is needed for the quality I was looking for. Our logo and look was designed by Lubosh Cech from OKO design studio. We created this collage and described what it represented to us.
Lubosh also experienced the process of making his own image of present and future. Since VisualsSpeak is an experiential process we always try to have our subcontractors experience it so they fully understand what we are doing. Looking at our collage, you can see we see ourselves in a circular form. Lubosh captured the essence of what we were saying, and worked to create visual clarity for our name. Those 2 ss’s in the middle confuse everyone, and we still have to say VisualsSpeak with 2 ss’s in the middle when we say our name. The web domain name with only 1 s wasn’t available, so we continue to search for ways to make it clear.

Hi nice post, i have come across your site once before when searching for something so i was just wondering something. I love your theme, would it happen to be a free one i can download, or is it a custom one you had made? In a few weeks i will be launching my own site, i’m not great with designs but i really like the style of your site so it would be cool if i could find (or pay for) something with a similar look.
Thanks!
Yes, our theme is a heavily modified version of Silver Lexus. You can find it here http://www.highlandsbydesign.com/theme/silver-lexus-theme/
