Stripes created in Art Studio on iPad. I am playing with the various brushes, and used them to create this layered striped pattern.
This worked OK on most products, but I think it worked best on something simple like this keychain.
Dark purple sand with gold
As I was playing with this image, it reminded me of the edge of water and sand. Not that the color has anything to do with that, but I liked the texture with the color contrast.
This design’s interesting on a range of products. I like the ones that are tall enough to include more of the gold, like this card. It’s also got spaces that you could put words on if you wanted a custom card.
Diagonal Plaid
And yet another app for painting has made it onto my iPad. This one is Art Studio. I’m finding it’s getting easier to pick up a new app and work with it right away. Each one works slightly differently, and yet there is enough commonality between them so I catch on pretty fast.
A pattern like this seemed pretty dense on a lot of things, but I thought it was interesting on an iphone case.
Red Fronds
I’m back to playing with Art Rage, which specializes in replicating art materials. For this one, I used a sand textured canvas to paint on. I like how it appears to be more integrated with the surface rather than sitting up above it.
I thought it would be interesting as an apron— probably because it reminds me of flames.
Water splashes
Exploring the watercolor brush in Sketchbook Pro on iPad. Certainly not the same as watercolor in the flesh, but interesting all the same. One of the things that seems strange is the regularity, since watercolor feels on the edge of control a lot of the time. There are some qualities of that in the digital version. Interesting similarities and differences to explore.
I was playing with putting the design on products, and thought it was interesting on a mousepad.
